Check out the four types of wetland environmental offsets/impacts. Not all ecological restoration methods serve the same purpose; or are created in quite the same way. All development is tailored to that particular site’s ecosystem.
Long-term drought compromises trees, reducing their resistance to various insects and diseases. Lack of adequate soil moisture can cause trees, specifically hardwoods, such as oaks to “shut down” or go dormant early in an effort to conserve water uptake and movement of nutrients.
Texas could give landowners more say in eminent domain negotiations under bill sent to Greg Abbott’s desk. @MitigationUSA https://www.texastribune.org/…/05/27/texas-eminent-domain/
During the 20th century, water pollution became a real threat to general welfare and domestic tranquility for U.S. citizens. To address this threat, Congress, acting on the will of the people, enacted legislation that now functions through federally promulgated rules and regulations to conserve our country’s waters that are so vital to our well-being. This legislation prevents destruction of the nation’s waters–protecting an essential necessity of life itself and retaining the value of a vital component of the national economy.
The federal government expects another active Atlantic hurricane season in 2021, with as many as 10 hurricanes forming. The season began June 1 and runs through Nov. 30. An average season typically spawns seven hurricanes and peaks in August and September.
For areas outside an approved mitigation bank service area, permittee-responsible mitigation is undertaken to provide compensatory mitigation. Just like a mitigation bank, PRM success requires resource restoration, establishment, enhancement and/or preservation. MSUSA has a number of PRM-ready mitigation sites in Arkansas, Oklahoma and along the Texas Coast to offset impacts associated with your project.
While there are a number of criteria for a bank, the main consideration is the ecological suitability for a site to achieve the desired aquatic resources and function. www.msusa.com @MitigationUSA
MSUSA would like to recognize the 16th Annual Endangered Species Day. On the third Friday in May, people around the world participate in Endangered Species Day by celebrating, learning about and taking action to protect threatened and endangered species. www.msusa.com
All restoration projects have different approaches and processes, but the final goals are centered around: revegetation, habitat enhancement, remediation, and mitigation. www.msusa.com
Mitigation banking is the restoration, preservation, creation or enhancement of wetlands and streams for the purpose of compensation for future unavoidable resource impacts. #msusa #mitigationusa www.msusa.com
Ecological restoration maintains and restores the chemical, physical and biological integrity of the nations waters. Mitigation banking is an effective way to achieve this mission. #wetlands #ecology #msusa #mitigationusa www.msusa.com

The first mitigation bank was established 38 years ago in 1983. By 2021, there are over 2,300-approved bank sites and another 546-pending approval across the country according to the RIBITS database. American Wetlands Month is a time when the EPA and our partner federal, state, tribal, local, non-profit, and private sector organizations celebrate the vital importance of wetlands to our Nation’s ecological, economic, and social health. Wetlands help improve water quality and supply, reduce flooding and provide critical habitat for plants, fish, and wildlife. #msusa #mitigationusa #wetlands Mitigation Solutions USA www.msusa.com
Did you know that for every acre of wetland impacted by a development project, 1.5X the ecological value is created? And that means improved water quality, better flood control and more ecological productivity protected in perpetuity. #msusa #mitigationusa #wetlands www.msusa.com
A stream is a body of water with surface water flowing within the bed and banks of a channel. The flow of a stream is controlled by three inputs – surface water, subsurface water, and groundwater. The surface and subsurface water are highly variable between periods of rainfall.

What is a Mitigation Bank? A mitigation bank is privately or publicly owned land managed for its natural resource values. In exchange for permanently protecting the land, the bank operator is allowed to sell credits to developers who need to satisfy permitting requirements for compensating environmental impacts of development projects. www.msusa.com #msusa #mitigationusa
